OUR JOURNEY AND MISSION
Training Health and Social Care Workers
We set up The Dementia Research and Training Academy (or DRTA) in 2021. After working with care professionals, local councils, health boards and everyone in between for over a decade, we thought it was about time we shared the invaluable knowledge and experience we've picked up along the way.

More than 920,000 people in the UK are living with dementia with predictions by 2024 this number will be over 1,000,000.
​
Dementia is not a disease, and certainly should not be treated like one. Our mission is to work with our partners to raise awareness, provide guidance to healthcare workers and bring comfort to those living with dementia, their friends and family members alike.

RESEARCH
For a Better Tomorrow
Not everyone has the same needs. In fact, it’s hard to find two people who benefit from the exact same approach to their dementia journey.

We've collaborated with care groups across the country to understand more about their systems, processes and delivery of care. With each day we understand more about how to guide those living with dementia through their journey, assisting their friends and loved ones to remove any stigmas and help them understand how they too can be a key part of the journey.
DEVELOPMENT
At Your Convenience
We have spent years dedicating ourselves to the development of outstanding models of care. No two care or nursing homes are the same and each needs to be treated differently.

Our academy is here to listen, understand and learn from your experiences. Take them away and provide guidance on what models could work for you, your business and your loved ones. We're immensely proud to say we've worked closely with care groups to achieve 'outstanding' ratings with CQC at their homes
TRAINING
A Personal Approach
We regularly host training events for our partners (including their visitors and any relatives of residents who may be interested!).

Training should never be a one stop shop to all answers - and it never will be!

Our aim is to hold collaborative, shared experiences, bringing professionals and care workers across all sectors into one space. We prioritise inclusion, clear communication and encourage questions and debate.
